Upcoming Releases
Primo/Para ti Primo. San Diego 's premier salsa orchestra releases their debut CD. Produced, arranged and recorded by Allan.
Isa/Isa. American Indian singer with a classical background displays a unique blend of Indian chants, with beautiful and edgy lyrics accompanied by Allan's atmospheric and percussive sound. Album produced, arranged and recorded by Allan. Scheduled to be released in March 2004.
Jaime Valle/Vital Signs. The most awaited Latin Jazz Guitar icon's fourth release following a quadruple-bypass surgery. Album produced by Jaime Valle and Allan Phillips. Includes Jazz legends Dave Pike on Vibes, and Tony Ortega on Sax, as well as Bob Magnusson (Sara Vaughn, Buddy Rich), Cliff Almond (Manhattan Transfer, Michel Camilo) and vocals by Quino (Big Mountain).
Robert Incelli/ Latin Jazz. The second solo release by Venezuelan saxman Robert Incelli (Oscar D'Leon, Jazz On The Latin Side L.A. All Stars) A blend of Venezuelan, Afro-Cuban and Classic Jazz. Watch out for Incelli's version of Take five! Album produced, arranged and recorded by Allan.
News
April 8: Allan will be leading a Steel drum ensemble at the opening day of Petco Park, San Diego's brand new Baseball stadium. The first day of the season will feature the San Diego Padres playing against the San Francisco Giants.
April 10: Allan recently shared the stage with Grammy winner Jazz vocalist/pianist Diane Schuur at Humphrey's by the Bay, in San Diego, to two sold out shows.
March 28: An article in SixMoons.com uses Jaime Valle's Round Midnight [Topmusic SACD 1013] album to compare the GamuT and TEAC machines. Jaime Valle's Round Midnight was produced by Allan Phillips and it's considered one of the best jazz albums due to its high fidelity.
March 28: Rob Mehl/Just Give Me The Keys. This seasoned singer/songwriter takes us on a journey to the Caribbean and the Florida keys. Album produced, arranged and recorded by Allan. The album was released last month.
January 28: Allan will be performing on percussion and melodica with Fattburger at Humphreys by the Bay (San Diego, CA)/tel: (619) 224-3577 on January 27th, 2004. Fattburger's recently released album Sizzlin' debuted #16 on the Billboard Smooth Jazz charts.
January 28: Jaime Valle's Latin Jazz quartet is scheduled to perform on Wednesdays at Tutto Mare (La Jolla, CA)/ tel: (858) 597-1188. Jaime Valle on guitar, Bob Magnuson on bass, Tripp Sprague on sax and Allan on percussion.
January 28: Allan has written, arranged and recorded one of the songs included in the musical "DANNY" a MUSICAL IN NEW ORLEANS. The name of the song is "Holiday Harmony." Words and music by Douglas Foxworthy and Allan Phillips.
January 27: Allan recently performed on keyboards with Habib Koité, guitarrist- singer-songwriter from Mali and one of Africa 's most progressive young artists on the scene. Koité's familiarity with the tradition of Malian griots, coupled with his freedom to perform outside the griotic tradition, has made him the electronic griots leader, establishing a strong musical connection in the cycle of World Music. The concert was held at the U.C.S.D. Theatre on January 23d, 2004 .
